چکیده

Semisynthetic penicillins are widely used antibiotics. Hepatotoxicity (mainly cholestatic) associated with these drugs is a rare, but well described phenomenon.' 2 Several series of cholestatic hepatitis have been reported after treatment with flucloxacillin,2A whereas only isolated cases related to cloxacillin have been described.`'0 Cholestatic jaundice may develop up to seven weeks following cessation of treatment.3 It may present as a mild disorder or as severe, prolonged cholestatic hepatitis which may lead to a fatal outcome despite cessation of the drug.2 The optimal treatment (in addition to discontinuation of the drug) is unclear. We describe a patient who developed a severe and prolonged cholestatic hepatitis which we believe was related to cloxacillin treatment.

Cholestatic jaundice caused by cloxacillin: macrophage inhibition factor test in preventing rechallenge with hepatotoxic drugs.

Severe intrahepatic cholestasis occurred in a patient after taking nitrofurantoin, ampicillin, and cloxacillin. As only nitrofurantoin was known to cause cholestasis she was given cloxacillin again two years later. The cholestasis reappeared at once. A macrophage inhibition factor test confirmed that cloxacillin was the offending drug. Cloxacillin should be added to the growing list of drugs ca...

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most frequent malignant brain tumor in adults. Its established first-line adjuvant treatment is radiotherapy in combination with temozolomide (TZM). Hematotoxicity is listed as a frequent adverse drug reaction in the US prescribing information and hepatotoxicity has been reported infrequently in the postmarketing period. We here present the case of a patient...

Successful treatment with telaprevir of post-transplant fibrosing cholestatic hepatitis C in an HIV co-infected patient.

Hepatitis C recurrence is the main cause of graft loss in liver transplant patients co-infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HII). These patients have higher risk of fibrosing cholestatic hepatitis, which is the most severe type of hepatitis C recurrence. Until direct antiviral agents were released, only a minority of patients could be satisfactorily treated. We describe the successful tr...
